The College of Legal Practice becomes an Apprenticeship Provider

Published on 26 February 2024

Following National Apprenticeships Week a couple of weeks ago, we are delighted to announce that The College of Legal Practice has been accepted onto the national Apprenticeship Provider and Assessment Register.

Organisations can now train their graduate solicitor apprentices with The College of Legal Practice, supporting them through the SQE. This development aligns with the College’s increasing commitment to social mobility and enables firms to use the Levy to increase opportunities for trainees to qualify as a solicitor with the SQE.

UK and Ireland law firm, Browne Jacobson, one of the leading employers in the Social Mobility Foundation’s Employer Index in 2023, has already confirmed that they will be partnering with the College to support graduate solicitor apprentices from autumn 2024.

The College’s apprenticeship programme will be one of the most flexible available, with training completed virtually and spread across the working week, limiting the need for full days out of work or the office.

Dr Giles Proctor says “This addition to the College’s valued qualification programmes further enhances our commitment to inclusion and increasing access to the solicitor profession. I am thoroughly delighted that we can now partner with firms to increase the opportunities they have available for talented legal professionals to qualify through the SQE. This really is fantastic news for the profession.”

The College’s solicitor graduate apprenticeships will be available from autumn 2024 for firms wishing to partner with the College. They will include flexible preparation for SQE1 and SQE2 across a two-year programme, or a three-year programme combined with the Graduate Diploma in Law.
