The Online Learning platform 

The College’s learning community is hosted on an accessible and intuitive learning portal, built on Canvas, a reliable system also used by our parent company, The College of Law in Australia. You can access the learning portal on a browser or a mobile app, all you need is a strong WIFI or data connection so you can access all learning materials.

Is the learning all online?

Yes, all of the learning at the College is fully online, using either the College’s bespoke learning portal, Teams, Zoom or online legal resources. You do not need to travel to study at the College, you will however need to travel if you are looking to take the SQE exams which you need to book directly with the SRA.


What is the SQE

How easy is your online platform to navigate and use?

We use a world renowned stable and accessible platform called Canvas. This platform is used by many leading Universities across the world. Canvas is very easy to pick up, it is intuitive and simple to navigate. You can see it for yourself on our demos.

What online and technical requirements do I need?

To study with The College of Legal Practice you’ll need a stable internet connection – broadband wired or wireless (3G or 4G/LTE, speakers and a microphone – built-in, USB plug-in, or wireless Bluetooth. You'll also need a webcam or HD webcam - built-in, USB plug-in. To view more detail on the technical requirements click here.

What support do I have with online services?

When you first log onto the portal, you will see induction and orientation information and videos. We recommend that you complete them the week before the course starts. In addition to these, the supervisor team will guide you in your first sessions to ensure that you are set up and learning effectively on the portal. Should you have any issues with the online portal, our UK based dedicated IT team will support and guide you virtually to resolve them.

Student IT support

If your courses are online, will I still receive the same level of support?

You will have a personal tutor offering you pastoral and wellbeing support. You will also meet with a 1-2-1 supervisor on a regular basis to discuss and get individual feedback on your engagement and the progress of your learning journey.

Can I study if I don’t live in the UK?

Yes, our online courses can be taken from anywhere in the world. Whilst our SQE prep courses are designed to support those wishing to learn to practice law under the jurisdiction of England and Wales, you can study from abroad. If you are based in a different time zone, there are some things for you to consider
